Have you got what it takes to be a Digital Champion volunteer?
As a digital champion you can make a real difference. It’s hard to believe, but 23% of adults in the UK do not have basic digital skills, and there are over 7 million people in the UK who’ve never used the internet. In Dorset alone, there are approximately 80,000 residents who have never been online.
Just imagine if the internet was taken away from you for a week. No Facebook. No Skype. No online shopping or catch up TV. Wouldn’t you feel lonely and isolated? Well, right here in Wessex Digital Champions are helping to change this.
Would you like to share your computer skills with someone in your local community and help transform their life? You can, by becoming a Digital Champion. You could support people to use the internet and gain basic knowledge of online digital skills. Work within the local Dorset community to help others get online.
Enjoy IT? Do you have a good skill set in information technology? Then why not pass on the benefit of your experience to someone who is keen to learn a bit more. Then help transform your community. Volunteer to become a Digital Champion and see what a difference you can make.
Training of Digital Champions takes place in small groups in order to help them understand how to make the most of their role, which is essentially to help people in gaining basic online and digital skills. Support is available for all volunteers and they are able to access a range of exciting training opportunities. This includes stop-motion animation, coding, and IT for employability.
