Thanks to the efforts of Dorset’s Digital Champions, many older residents of this historical Wessex county are being brought an opportunity to get their first peek into the modern digital world. Getting online greatly empowers Dorset’s older people by connecting them to friends, family and innumerable services across the globe. Dorset are truly creating a model of digital inclusion to be proud of.

Online Portal for Dorset Services

The three councils responsible for providing adult social care and support services, Bournemouth Borough Council, Dorset County Council and the Borough of Poole have brought together their advice and information about social care services into one website that serves all the people of Dorset. This is called My Life My Care. Out on the ground helping Dorset’s older citizens, the county has the long-established and highly effective Partnership for Older People Programme; delivered by its front line of Champions and Wayfinders.

Help from the Dorset Partnership for Older People Programme (POPP)

Dorset’s POPP scheme is a partnership between Dorset County Council, Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group, the Third Sector and older people. It has also developed a working partnership with a range of other service providers, such as Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue, Dorset Police, and various community services. The Wayfinder programme is the part of POPP that supplies free local information signposting to members of the public.
